back to the beach

There are no words for the fun we had this day, so I'll just let the pictures say it for me.

a our place

This week has been, Roghan getting into places he shouldn't and playing with things he probably shouldn't (in this case a box of rice), admiring his lovely slippers (a wonderful present from my cousin), rewards for lots of hard work and practice, wondering what kind of enormous dog made this footprint, and fun with woof! (Faith calls one of her grandads woof - no idea why!).

Much fun in the kitchen. Lots of flour, icing sugar, spilt eggs and food colouring too, but the fun is most important.

autumns for the woods

Phew! We haven't been able to get enough of the woods recently, the leaves, the colours, the mud, the freedom, the rope swings, the trees, the air..... it all calls to us and whenever we've been snowed in by the normal work, appointments and 'things to do' of life, we break away to the woods.

We explored a different part of the woods this time and found this most ancient and beautiful beech tree. Amazing how the kids were all instantly drawn to it and went running over to look around it and touch it as soon as they saw it.

In the middle of the woods down a tiny unmarked track we found this sweet little garden, the fence was falling down in places and there was even a huge fallen tree across the middle but bits and pieces were growing. Notably- nasturtiums and sage were in abundance. We stopped here to have our picnic lunch.

The squirrels were friendly ....

... as were the otters!!

The rope swing we found was amazing and going out over a bank made it feel so high.

The excitement was all too much for some little ones!

Happy outings in the woods x

yarn along

Joining in with the yarn along.
Finished off these socks for Roghan. They are made from the leftover yak wool that I made chris' socks from.
Also discovered how hard it is to photograph dark grey socks!

mama made trousers too!

Finished my peaks island hood, I love it so much it is being worn all the time with everything. I think I mentioned last week that I loved this yarn (fez - debbie bliss), but can I just say that I really really love this yarn!

Also been making lots of little gifts to send away, free star pattern here, and ravelry pages here, here, and here.

Can't wait to see what everyone else is doing, happy yarn along.

at our place

This week has been creative homeschooling, lots of walking, autumn leaves, bike rides and amazing rainbows in beautiful places.

Also this week we are celebrating the removal of the scaffolding and the end to all the dust! Will the house be waterproof for winter? Watch this space ...

into the woods

We love the woods!
We start with a spot of tree climbing,

then make friends with squirrels.

This squirrel joined Faith in her tree climbing!

We spot hidden carvings,

climb more trees,

then stop to feed the swans.

Admire the english winter wildlife (christmas card?!),

enjoy the silence of the trees,

then round a corner out into the sun and are greeted by these breathtaking colours.

Thankyou for joining us on our walk in the woods.
